Policies and Procedures
We have an extensive number of policies and procedures in place, which set out the philosophies and ethos behind the nursery, as well as our general day to day procedures.
Copies of our policies are on display to parents at the nursery at all times. You can request copies of any of our policies by contacting the nursery manager or deputy manager.
Safeguarding
At Bouncing Beans Nursery we work with children, parents, external agencies and the community to ensure the welfare and safety of children and to give them the very best start in life. Children have the right to be treated with respect, be helped to thrive and to be safe from any abuse in whatever form. All staff have a responsibility to report safeguarding concerns and suspicions of abuse. If we have a concern about a child or children we will telephone the children's Advice and Duty Service (CADS).
Inclusion and Equality
At Bouncing Beans Children's Nursery we take great care to treat each individual as a person in their own right, with equal rights and responsibilities to any other individual, whether they are an adult or a child. The nursery is committed to providing equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice for all children and families according to their individual needs.
Promoting Positive Behaviour
At Bouncing Beans Children's Nursery we believe that children flourish best when they know how they and others are expected to behave. Children gain respect through interaction with caring adults who act as good role models, show them respect and value their individual personalities. The nursery actively promotes British values and encourages and praises positive, caring and polite behaviour at all times and provides an environment where children learn to respect themselves, other people and their surroundings.
Unwell Children
Your child should not be brought into nursery if he/she is unwell. We would be very grateful if you could inform us of their absence before 9.00am. A 48 hour exclusion period is maintained for sickness and diarrhoea, taken from the last episode, to prevent the illness spreading to others.
When we have been advised of a child having an infectious illness, we place a notice on our main front door, notifying parents and visitors.
Medication and Antibiotics
Bouncing Beans takes administering medication seriously. When dealing with medication of any kind in the nursery, we follow strict guidelines. We do not administer any medication unless prior written consent is given for every medicine by the child's parent. We have a comprehensive medication policy, which includes details on the administering of a liquid paracetamol. This is available to view in the nursery or you may request a copy at any time.
Where children have been prescribed antibiotics, we ask parents to keep them at home for 48hours to ensure that there are no adverse effects as well as to give them time for the medication to take effect.
Accidents
If your child suffers an accident or incident at nursery, you will be shown an accident report and asked to sign it when you arrive to collect your child. Where medical attention is required, you will be informed as soon as possible.
